Description

Delightfully spooky and sweet, Nutella Banana Mummy Rolls are an easy and fun treat perfect for Halloween or any festive occasion. Soft crescent roll dough is filled with creamy Nutella and fresh banana slices, then wrapped and baked to golden perfection. Drizzled with a simple powdered sugar glaze and finished with candy eyes, these mummies are sure to charm kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Dough and Filling

  • 1 package Pillsbury Crescent sheets (each package makes about 6 mummy rolls)
  • 1 small container Nutella (about 8 oz)
  • 2-3 ripe bananas, sliced

Glaze and Decoration

  • ½ cup heaping powdered sugar
  • Milk or water, enough to thin glaze (approximately 1-2 tablespoons)
  • Candy eyes, quantity as desired

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent sheet onto a clean surface and stretch it out to approximately 10-11 by 6-8 inches. Slice the dough into 6 equal square sections. Lightly score each square into three equal vertical sections without cutting all the way through to make wrapping easier.
  2. Add Filling: Cut horizontal strips about ¼ inch wide along each of the two outer sections on the sides. Spoon a couple tablespoons of Nutella down the center section of each square, leaving about half an inch of space at the top and bottom edges. Place banana slices evenly on top of the Nutella filling.
  3. Wrap the Mummies: Fold the right two cut strips over the filling to create the mummy’s “bandages,” alternating right and left strips as you go, weaving them over the banana and Nutella. Leave a small gap near the top section to place the candy eyes later.
  4. Bake: Arrange the wrapped mummy rolls on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated 375℉ (190℃) oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough turns golden brown and fully cooked.
  5. Cool: Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool completely to room temperature before decorating.
  6. Make Glaze: In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar with enough milk or water (start with 1 tablespoon and add as needed) to create a smooth, drizzle-able glaze.
  7. Decorate: Lightly drizzle the glaze over the cooled mummy rolls. Place candy eyes on the dough gaps to give the mummies a spooktacular look. Allow the glaze to set until dry to the touch before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute bananas with strawberries or apples for different flavors.
  • If you don’t have candy eyes, small chocolate chips or edible ink markings also work.
  • Use milk instead of water in the glaze for a richer flavor and smoother texture.
  • The glaze thickness can be adjusted by adding more powdered sugar or liquid to your liking.
  • Serving these slightly warm is delicious, but they are best when cooled to let the glaze set.
