Witches Brooms and Hats are a fun and simple Halloween-themed food craft perfect for kids of all ages. This quick recipe uses premade cookies, chocolates, pretzels, and a homemade mint frosting to create spooky, festive treats that are easy to assemble and delicious to enjoy.
Ingredients
For the Brooms
- 1 Pkg Miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (30-40 pieces)
- 30-40 small pretzel sticks
For the Hats
- 1 Pkg Keebler Grasshopper Cookies
- 1 Pkg Milk Chocolate Hershey Kisses
For the Frosting
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsp softened butter
- 2 tsp half and half or cream
- 2-3 drops mint extract
- Green food coloring (amount to desired color)
Instructions
- Assemble the Brooms: Unwrap the miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and place each cup upside down on a plate or flat surface. Insert one small pretzel stick into the center of each peanut butter cup, pushing it down carefully to create the broomstick handle.
- Prepare the Frosting: In a bowl, combine the powdered sugar, softened butter, half and half (or cream), mint extract, and green food coloring. Mix thoroughly until the frosting is smooth and evenly colored.
- Fill the Frosting Bag: Spoon the frosting into the corner of a sandwich-sized Ziploc bag, then snip off a small corner to create a piping bag for easy frosting application.
- Assemble the Hats: Place the Keebler Grasshopper cookies on a flat surface. Unwrap the Hershey Kisses. Squeeze approximately ½ teaspoon of the green frosting onto the bottom center of each Hershey Kiss, then press the kiss onto the center of each cookie to form the witch hats. Repeat until all hats are assembled.
- Serving: Arrange the completed witches brooms and hats on a platter and serve immediately or store in a cool place until ready to enjoy.
