Ingredients
Rice Krispie Treats Mixture
- 6 cups Rice Krispie Cereal, divided into two batches of 3 cups each
- 6 tablespoons unsalted sweet cream butter, divided into two batches of 3 tablespoons each
- 6 cups mini marshmallows, divided into two batches of 3 cups each
Food Coloring
- Wilton Color Right Food Coloring – Pink, Blue, Yellow, Red (for coloring marshmallow mixture green and purple)
Instructions
- Prepare Two Batches of Rice Krispie Treats: Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add 3 cups of mini marshmallows and stir continuously until fully melted and smooth.
- Color the Marshmallow Mixture: Turn off heat and add food coloring. For the green batch, add 4 drops yellow and 1 drop blue. For the purple batch, add 4 drops pink, 1 drop blue, and 1 drop red. Stir well to incorporate the colors evenly.
- Add Cereal: Add 3 cups of Rice Krispie Cereal to each colored marshmallow mixture and gently fold until all cereal is fully coated.
- Cool Slightly: Allow the mixtures to cool just until no longer burning but still warm enough to shape.
- Mold the Witch Hats – Base: Butter your hands and mold 1 ounce of a Rice Krispie Treat mixture into a small disc shape. This will be the base of the witch hat.
- Mold the Witch Hats – Top: Using another 1 ounce of the treat mixture, shape a cone-like piece that will serve as the top of the hat.
- Assemble the Witch Hat: Press the cone piece onto the base disc so they stick firmly. Slightly bend down the tip of the cone to create the signature witch hat shape before the treat cools completely.
Notes
- Food Coloring Guide: To achieve the green color use 4 drops yellow and 1 drop blue food coloring.
- To achieve the purple color use 4 drops pink, 1 drop blue, and 1 drop red food coloring.
- Work quickly while the mixture is warm for easier molding and shaping.
- Butter your hands well to prevent sticking while shaping the treats.
- If the mixture cools too much and hardens, gently warm it again to soften before shaping.
- These treats are best served the same day but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
