Ingredients
Pizza Dough
- 1 (14- to 16-ounce) ball pizza dough
Sauce
- ⅔ to ¾ cup Super-Easy Marinara Sauce or your favorite store-bought pizza sauce
Toppings
- 4 sticks whole-milk string cheese
- 12 large pitted black olives
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 500°F if using a baking sheet or as high as possible if using a baking stone or steel. Place the stone or steel in the oven before preheating to get it fully heated.
- Prepare Spiderweb and Spider Toppings: Pull the string cheese into thin strips for the spiderweb. Cut the black olives in half lengthwise. Set aside 8 halves as spider bodies. Cut the remaining halves lengthwise into 4 thin strips each to use as spider legs.
- Roll Out Dough: Stretch or roll out the pizza dough into a 12- to 14-inch circle. Transfer it to a baking sheet, pizza pan, or lightly floured pizza peel if using a stone or steel. Prick the dough all over with a fork to prevent bubbling during baking.
- Spread Sauce: Evenly spread the marinara sauce over the dough, leaving about a ½-inch border around the edges.
- Par-Bake the Pizza Base: Transfer the sauced dough to the oven. Bake for about 3 minutes on a stone/steel or 5 minutes on a baking sheet, until the crust is lightly golden and dry, and the sauce is bubbling but not browned.
- Assemble the Spider Web and Spiders: Remove the pizza from the oven. Quickly arrange the string cheese strips on top to create a spider web design. Place the olive halves (spider bodies) and olive legs over the web wherever you like.
- Melt the Cheese: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for another 3 to 5 minutes until the cheese strips have just melted.
- Serve: Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, slice, and enjoy your spooky Halloween pizza!
Notes
- Use whole-milk string cheese for best melting and texture.
- If you don’t have a baking stone or steel, a baking sheet works fine.
- To make the spiderweb design easier, watch a tutorial video for step-by-step guidance on arranging the cheese strips.
- Pre-pricking the dough is key to avoid bubbled crust that can distort the spiderweb pattern.
- You can substitute the marinara sauce with any pizza sauce you prefer.
