Ingredients
Beef Mixture
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 medium onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Casserole Mix
- 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup (10.5 ounces)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 can corn, drained (approximately 15 ounces)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Topping
- 1 package (32 ounces) frozen tater tots
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray and set it aside.
- Cook beef and onions: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and chopped onion. Break apart the beef and stir regularly. Cook for 7 to 8 minutes until the beef is browned and the onion is soft and translucent. Drain excess fat.
- Season beef mixture: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the beef mixture. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Combine casserole ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the cooked beef and onion with sour cream, condensed cream of mushroom soup, drained corn, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Stir well to combine.
- Assemble casserole: Spread the beef mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the beef mixture. Then sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the tater tots.
- Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until the tater tots are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your comforting tater tot casserole!
Notes
- You can substitute the cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken soup if preferred.
- For added vegetables, consider mixing in diced bell peppers or green beans.
- If you prefer a spicier dish, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder.
- Use a sharp cheddar cheese for a richer flavor profile.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
