Description
Spring Blossom Cookies are delightful bite-sized treats featuring a soft, buttery sugar cookie base rolled in vibrant sanding sugar and topped with a classic Hershey’s Kiss. These cookies bake quickly and are perfect for festive occasions or anytime you want a colorful, sweet snack.
Ingredients
Cookie Dough
- 1 cup Sugar
- 3/4 cup Salted Butter, softened
- 1 Egg
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 1/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
Topping
- Bright Colored Sanding Sugar
- 24 Hershey Kisses, unwrapped
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside for easy, non-stick baking.
- Unwrap Kisses: Remove the wrappers from the 24 Hershey Kisses and set the chocolates aside for later.
- Cream Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, beat together the sugar, softened salted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking soda to evenly distribute the leavening agent.
- Make Cookie Dough: Gradually add the flour mixture into the creamed wet ingredients, beating until a soft cookie dough forms with no dry flour visible.
- Shape and Roll Cookies: Using your hands, shape the dough into approximately 1-inch diameter balls. Roll each ball in the bright colored sanding sugar to coat evenly, then place them on the prepared baking sheet spaced about 2 inches apart.
- Bake Cookies: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 7 minutes, or until they are just set but not browned, maintaining a soft texture.
- Add Hershey Kisses: Immediately after removing the cookies from the oven, press one unwrapped Hershey Kiss firmly into the center of each cookie. The warmth will help the chocolate slightly melt and stick.
- Cool Completely: Allow the cookies to cool completely on the baking sheet so the Hershey Kisses set firmly before transferring or serving.
Notes
- For best results, use room temperature butter to ensure proper creaming with sugar.
- If you prefer a different type of chocolate, mini peanut butter cups or flavored kisses make excellent substitutes.
- Bright colored sanding sugar adds a festive touch but can be swapped with regular granulated sugar or colored sprinkles.
- Make sure not to overbake; these cookies are meant to be soft and chewy.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
