Description
Create a festive and fun Spooky Halloween Pizza using flatbread as the base for an easy homemade mummy-themed treat. Perfect for Halloween parties or kids’ sleepovers, this recipe uses simple ingredients like mozzarella string cheese and pepperoni to create a spooky mummy look, baked to bubbly perfection in your oven.
Ingredients
Flatbread Base
- 1 Stonefire Naan flatbread (or any similar flatbread)
Toppings
- 1/4 cup pizza sauce
- 3–4 mozzarella string cheese sticks
- 2 slices pepperoni
- 2 black olive slices
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven temperature to 375° F (190° C) to prepare for baking the pizza.
- Prepare the baking surface: Line a pizza stone or baking sheet with parchment paper, then place your flatbread on top, ready for topping.
- Apply the sauce: Spoon the pizza sauce evenly over the flatbread, leaving about a 1/2-inch rim around the edges free of sauce to create a crust border.
- Create the mummy wrappings: Peel each mozzarella string cheese stick into 4-5 long strips and arrange them over the sauce to mimic the mummy’s linen wrappings, covering the surface well but allowing some sauce to peek through.
- Add the eyes: Place two pepperoni slices approximately one-third of the way down from the top edge of the flatbread. Then place one black olive slice on each pepperoni slice to represent the mummy’s eyes.
- Season the pizza: Sprinkle the dried oregano and parsley evenly over the entire flatbread for added flavor and a touch of green appearance.
- Bake the pizza: Place the prepared pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and starts bubbling for a perfect gooey texture.
- Cool and serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly to allow the cheese to set before slicing and serving your spooky mummy pizza.
Notes
- Stonefire roasted garlic Naan flatbread is recommended, but any similar naan or flatbread shaped like a rounded or oval pizza base works well.
- Ingredients listed are for one pizza. Multiply quantities if making multiple pizzas.
- Feel free to substitute with your favorite fresh or pre-baked pizza crust; if using fresh dough, par-bake first or increase baking time to ensure a cooked-through crust.
- Get creative by adding extra toppings like vegetables or different meats to customize your spooky design.
- You can use fresh herbs instead of dried, or omit herbs altogether depending on preference.
- Store any leftovers covered in the refrigerator for 2-3 days; reheat in the microwave before serving.
