Description

These homemade salmon burgers are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional beef burgers. Made with fresh salmon fillets, herbs, and spices, they’re grilled to perfection and served on toasted buns with fresh lettuce, tomato, and tangy tartar sauce. Ready in just 25 minutes, they make a perfect meal for a quick lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Salmon Burger Patties

  • 1 lb fresh salmon fillet (skinless, chopped)
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Additional Ingredients

  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 4 burger buns (toasted)
  • 1 cup lettuce (shredded)
  • 1 tomato (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup tartar sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patties: In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped salmon, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, fresh dill, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything until well combined to form the burger mixture.
  2. Form the Patties: Shape the salmon mixture into four equal-sized patties, making sure they are compact and uniform for even cooking.
  3. Preheat the Grill: Heat the grill to medium-high heat to ensure a good sear and proper cooking of the patties.
  4. Grill the Patties: Place the salmon patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side. Grill until the patties are cooked through and have nice grill marks. During the last minute of cooking, if using cheddar cheese, place a slice on each patty to melt.
  5. Assemble the Burgers: Toast the burger buns, then place each grilled salmon patty on a bun. Top with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and a generous dollop of tartar sauce.
  6. Serve: Serve the salmon burgers immediately while hot and enjoy a flavorful and healthy meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute fresh dill with parsley or chives if preferred.
  • Panko breadcrumbs help keep the patties light and crispy; regular breadcrumbs can be used as an alternative.
  • Ensure the salmon is cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) for safety.
  • Cheddar cheese is optional and can be omitted for a dairy-free option.
  • These burgers can also be pan-fried if a grill is not available.
