Description

Tender and flavorful Mississippi Chicken slow-cooked with ranch dressing, au jus gravy mix, pepperoncini peppers, and butter for a deliciously savory meal that’s perfect for busy days.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Vegetables

  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 8-10 pepperoncini peppers

Seasonings & Mixes

  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix

Others

  • ¾ cup juice from pepperoncini
  • ½ cup butter, sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crock Pot: Spray a large crock pot with non-stick cooking spray or line it with a crock pot liner to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Add Onion and Chicken: Place the diced onion at the bottom of the crock pot, then add the boneless, skinless chicken breasts on top of the onions.
  3. Season the Chicken: Sprinkle both the au jus gravy mix and ranch dressing mix packets evenly over the chicken breasts to season thoroughly.
  4. Add Peppers and Butter: Place the pepperoncini peppers over the chicken and distribute the sliced butter in several pads on top of the mixture. Pour the reserved ¾ cup of pepperoncini juice over everything to infuse flavor.
  5. Cook the Chicken: Cover the crock pot and cook on high for 4 to 5 hours or on low for 6 to 7 hours until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of pepperoncini peppers to your desired spice level.
  • Serve the chicken with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread to soak up the flavorful sauce.
  • Leftovers can be shredded and used in sandwiches or tacos.
  • Make sure to use the pepperoncini juice, as it adds a signature tangy flavor to the dish.
  • For a slower cook, use the low setting, but the high setting is perfect for quicker meals.
