Description

This Iced Coffee Protein Shake, also known as a Cold Brew Smoothie, is a sweet, caffeinated, and refreshingly frosty drink that combines cold brew coffee with protein and nutritious ingredients. Ideal for a quick breakfast, mid-morning boost, or post-workout snack, it delivers energy and satiety in a creamy, flavorful blend.

Ingredients

Liquid Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup cold brew or chilled brewed coffee
  • 1/4 cup full fat coconut milk

Dry and Frozen Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4-5 ice cubes
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder

Instructions

  1. Blend base ingredients: Put all your ingredients except the protein powder in your blender. Blend until smooth. If your smoothie is a little thin, add 4-5 ice cubes and blend again until smooth.
  2. Add protein powder: Add your scoop of protein powder to the blender and pulse 4 or 5 times until mixed well.
  3. Serve: Pour your blended shake into a glass and enjoy immediately for the best cold and creamy texture.

Notes

  • Substitutions & Variations: You can use brewed coffee chilled overnight or instant coffee as a substitute for cold brew.
  • Swap coconut milk with any unsweetened plant-based or dairy milk, keeping in mind the consistency may vary.
  • You can omit or replace cinnamon with warming spices like pumpkin pie spice, apple pie spice, or nutmeg.
  • If you dislike bananas, replace with avocado, mashed sweet potato, pumpkin purée, silken tofu, or oatmeal, and consider adding a liquid sweetener like maple syrup.
  • Chia seeds can be swapped with an equal amount of flax seeds or ground flax meal for a similar fiber and protein boost.
  • Try different protein powder flavors such as chocolate, peanut butter, or coffee to customize flavor.
  • Add 1-2 tablespoons of peanut butter or your preferred nut/seed butter for an extra rich and creamy shake.
  • If out of frozen banana, frozen fruit or veggie purée, silken tofu, cottage cheese, or oatmeal can be used but may require added sweetener.
