Description

This refreshing Honeydew Lemonade combines the natural sweetness of ripe honeydew melon with the tangy zest of freshly squeezed lemon juice, resulting in a revitalizing summer drink. Lightly sweetened if needed, it’s perfect served chilled over ice for a cooling beverage that’s both hydrating and delicious.

Ingredients

Honeydew Lemonade Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ripe honeydew melon (about 1/2 medium melon)
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • Optional: 1-2 tablespoons honey or sweetener of your choice

Instructions

  1. Prepare Honeydew: Peel the honeydew melon and cut it into cubes. This will make it easier to blend into a smooth puree.
  2. Puree Honeydew: Place the honeydew cubes into a blender and puree until smooth. You should end up with approximately 2 cups of honeydew puree.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Pour the honeydew puree into a pitcher. Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and 2 1/2 cups of water. Stir well to combine all ingredients evenly.
  4. Sweeten if Desired: Taste the lemonade; if it is not sweet enough due to the ripeness of the melon, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey or your preferred sweetener. Stir to dissolve the sweetener.
  5. Strain and Chill: If a smoother texture is preferred, strain the lemonade through a fine sieve to remove pulp. Then refrigerate until cold.
  6. Serve: Pour the honeydew lemonade over ice cubes in glasses and enjoy immediately for the best refreshing experience.

Notes

  • The sweetness of the honeydew melon will affect how much additional sweetener is necessary; ripe honeydew is usually sweet enough without extra sugar.
  • Straining is optional and depends on personal preference for texture.
  • For a fizzier drink, substitute some of the water with sparkling water just before serving.
  • This lemonade is best consumed freshly made but can be refrigerated for up to 2 days.
