Ingredients
Meat Layer
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 packages taco seasoning, divided
Cheese & Cream Layers
- 1 1/2 cups cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 cups sour cream, divided
- 1 1/2 cups shredded taco cheese, divided
Additional Layers & Toppings
- 1 4-oz can green chiles
- 1 cup chunky salsa
- 2 avocados, mashed
- 1 cup tomatoes, diced
- 1/4 cup black olives, sliced
- Tortilla chips (for serving)
Instructions
- Prepare the cream cheese mixture: In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, half of the sour cream, and one package of taco seasoning. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.
- Spread the base layer: Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture on the bottom of a deep, round serving plate to create a smooth base.
- Cook and season the ground beef: Heat a skillet over high heat and cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat, then stir in the remaining package of taco seasoning to season the meat thoroughly.
- Add the beef layer: Spread the seasoned ground beef evenly over the cream cheese base layer on the plate.
- Layer salsa and chiles: Spoon chunky salsa and diced green chiles over the ground beef layer, spreading evenly.
- Add cheese: Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded taco cheese over the salsa and chile mixture.
- Spread mashed avocado: Evenly layer the mashed avocados on top of the cheese layer.
- Create the web pattern: Transfer the remaining sour cream into a small Ziploc bag, snip off one corner, and pipe the sour cream in concentric circles or lines over the avocado. Use a toothpick or knife to drag lines through the sour cream to achieve a spider web effect.
- Final toppings: Decoratively arrange the diced tomatoes, the remaining shredded cheese, extra green chiles, and sliced black olives around the dip to add color and texture.
- Serve and garnish: Optionally, place clean plastic spiders on top for a Halloween touch, then serve immediately with tortilla chips and enjoy!
Notes
- For a spicier dip, consider adding jalapeños or hot sauce to the salsa layer.
- Feel free to prepare the dip a few hours ahead and refrigerate, but add fresh toppings just before serving.
- Use full-fat dairy products for the creamiest texture.
- Tortilla chips should be served fresh and crunchy for the best dipping experience.
- Plastic spiders are purely decorative and should not be eaten.
