Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups funfetti cake mix
- ¼ cup sugar
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tablespoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup + extra for decoration Halloween confetti sprinkles
Wet Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
Coating
- 2 bags Ghirardelli white melting chocolate
Equipment
- 1 cookie sheet fitted with wax or parchment paper
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the funfetti cake mix, sugar, flour, and vanilla extract. Cut the softened butter into cubes and add to the bowl. Using a fork or your fingers, work the mixture together until it forms a cookie dough-like texture.
- Add sprinkles: Mix in the Halloween confetti sprinkles until evenly combined throughout the dough.
- Shape the balls: Use a small cookie scooper to portion out the dough and roll each portion into balls with your hands. Continue until all the dough is formed into balls.
- Melt the chocolate: Using a double boiler, melt the white chocolate bags until smooth and ready for dipping.
- Dip the cake balls: If the dough balls feel too soft, place them in the freezer for 10 minutes to firm up. Then, using a fork, dip each ball into the melted white chocolate, fully coating it. Place each coated ball onto the prepared cookie sheet.
- Decorate: Sprinkle additional Halloween confetti sprinkles on top of the coated balls while the chocolate is still wet.
- Set the coating: Refrigerate the cake balls for 15 minutes to allow the chocolate coating to harden.
- Serve and enjoy: Share these festive Halloween treats with friends and family at your next party or celebration.
Notes
- If the cake balls are too soft to dip, chilling them in the freezer for about 10 minutes will make handling easier.
- You can substitute the white melting chocolate with other chocolate types if desired, but white chocolate complements the funfetti and sprinkles best.
- Be sure to coat the cake balls completely in chocolate to ensure they hold their shape and look polished.
- Store leftover cake balls in the refrigerator to keep them fresh and firm.
- Kids will love helping to decorate these cake balls with sprinkles—great for a fun Halloween activity!
