This festive Halloween guacamole recipe features creamy mashed avocados mixed with fresh diced tomatoes, onions, lime juice, and cilantro, topped with sour cream spiderweb decorations. Perfect as a spooky appetizer, it’s easy to prepare and sure to be a hit at any Halloween gathering or fall party.
Ingredients
Guacamole
- 4 avocados
- 2 cups tomatoes, finely chopped and drained
- 1/4 cup onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
Decoration
- 1/2 cup sour cream
Instructions
- Select and Prepare Avocados: Choose ripe avocados that yield slightly to gentle pressure. Remove the pits and scoop the flesh into a medium-sized bowl. Use a spoon to thoroughly mash the avocados until creamy.
- Mix Ingredients: Add 1 1/2 cups of the diced tomatoes, finely chopped onions, lime juice, salt, and chopped fresh cilantro to the mashed avocado. Stir well to combine all ingredients evenly. At this stage, you may transfer the guacamole mixture into a serving bowl if desired.
- Add Tomato Garnish: Arrange the remaining 1/2 cup of diced tomatoes around the edges of the guacamole to enhance the presentation and add texture.
- Create Sour Cream Spiderwebs: Place the sour cream into a pastry bag fitted with a small fine tip. Pipe decorative spiderweb designs over the top of the guacamole. Use a toothpick to carefully drag through the sour cream lines to shape intricate web patterns. Alternatively, use a plastic bag with a small corner cut if a pastry bag is unavailable.
- Serve: Present the Halloween guacamole with tortilla chips and fresh vegetables for dipping. Enjoy this festive, flavorful appetizer with family and friends.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add finely chopped jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the guacamole mixture.
- To prevent browning of avocado, prepare and serve the guacamole shortly after mashing, or cover tightly with plastic wrap touching the surface.
- Use fresh lime juice for a bright, authentic flavor and to help preserve the avocado’s vibrant color.
- When decorating the spiderwebs, if the sour cream is too thick to pipe, thin slightly with a little milk or water.
- This recipe serves 12 as an appetizer portion alongside chips and veggies.
