Description

Frozen Hot Chocolate is a rich and creamy icy beverage that combines melted milk chocolate with hot cocoa mix, sugar, and warm milk, blended with ice to create a smooth, refreshing treat. Topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup, it’s a decadent twist on traditional hot chocolate perfect for warm weather or any time you crave a chilled chocolate indulgence.

Ingredients

Chocolate Mixture

  • 1 cup (168 g) milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon hot cocoa mix
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 cups (490 g) whole milk, warm (approximately 110°F)

Blend and Garnish

  • 4 cups ice cubes
  • Whipped topping, for garnish
  • Chocolate syrup, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate chips: In a large microwave-safe bowl, add the milk chocolate chips. Heat in 20-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  2. Combine mixture: Stir in the hot cocoa mix and granulated sugar into the melted chocolate, then gradually add the warm whole milk (about 110°F) while stirring until fully combined and smooth.
  3. Blend with ice: Add the 4 cups of ice cubes to a blender, then pour in the prepared chocolate mixture. Blend on high speed until the mixture becomes smooth and has a slushy, thick texture.
  4. Serve and garnish: Pour the frozen hot chocolate into serving glasses. Top each serving generously with whipped cream and drizzle with chocolate syrup. Serve immediately for the best icy texture.

Notes

  • Use whole milk for a richer and creamier texture; however, you can substitute with lower-fat milk if desired.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar or hot cocoa mix to suit your taste.
  • Ensure the milk is warm (not hot) to help dissolve the sugar and cocoa mix properly.
  • For an extra chocolatey flavor, consider adding a splash of chocolate liqueur if serving to adults.
  • To make this vegan, use non-dairy chocolate chips, plant-based milk, and vegan whipped topping alternatives.
