Description

This Easy Crack Chicken Dip is a creamy, cheesy, and flavorful appetizer perfect for parties and gatherings. Made with cream cheese, ranch seasoning, crispy bacon, shredded chicken, cheddar, and sour cream, it’s baked until bubbly and served warm with chips or veggies for an irresistible snack.

Ingredients

Dip Ingredients

  • 12 oz cream cheese (softened; Philadelphia brand recommended for smooth melt)
  • 1.5 oz ranch seasoning mix (Hidden Valley original for best balance)
  • 1 cup bacon (crispy fried and crumbled into 1/4-inch bits)
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 20 oz sour cream (full-fat preferred for best texture)
  • 2 cups cooked chicken (shredded or chopped into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set oven to 400°F (204°C). While it heats, prepare ingredients by cooking bacon until crispy and crumbling into 1/4-inch pieces. Shred or chop chicken if not prepared already. Measure cheddar, sour cream, cream cheese, and ranch mix to have all ready for assembly.
  2. Combine base ingredients: In a large bowl, mix softened cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch seasoning together using a spatula or wooden spoon, working through the cream cheese until smooth and lump-free. This smooth base ensures even seasoning.
  3. Add mix-ins: Fold in the crispy bacon bits, shredded chicken, shredded cheddar cheese, and garlic powder gently to retain texture and ensure even distribution of flavors.
  4. Prepare baking dish: Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Transfer the dip mixture evenly into the dish, spreading into a flat layer.
  5. Bake the dip: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until heated through, bubbling at the edges but with a pale top. Avoid overbaking to prevent dryness, as the dip will further set when cooled slightly.
  6. Rest and serve: Remove from oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes to set. Serve warm with crackers, tortilla chips, or fresh vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • Use full-fat sour cream and cream cheese for the creamiest texture and best flavor.
  • Do not overbake to keep the dip moist and creamy.
  • Let the dip rest briefly after baking to help it firm up for easier scooping.
  • Bacon can be cooked in advance and stored in the fridge to save time.
  • If preferred, low-fat sour cream can be used but it may affect creaminess.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce for a spicy twist.
  • Serve with sturdy dippers like pita chips, tortilla chips, or sliced bell peppers.
