Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 8 oz feta block (not feta crumbles)
- 1 cup Natural Delights Medjool Dates, chopped
- 1/2 cup hazelnuts, chopped
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
- Fresh rosemary, chopped (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Baguette slices, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for roasting the feta and toppings evenly.
- Prepare feta: Place the whole block of feta cheese in the center of a small baking dish, creating a base for the topping.
- Mix topping: In a small bowl, combine the chopped dates and hazelnuts. Drizzle this mixture with extra virgin olive oil, honey, and optional chopped fresh rosemary, mixing to coat all pieces evenly.
- Assemble: Sprinkle the date and hazelnut mixture on top of and around the feta block in the baking dish, ensuring even coverage.
- Season and oil: Drizzle additional olive oil over the entire dish, then season with salt and pepper according to your taste preferences.
- Roast: Place the baking dish in the oven and roast for 20-25 minutes. Watch closely during the last five minutes to achieve a soft, creamy texture in the feta and nicely toasted, plump, browned nuts and dates without burning.
- Garnish and serve: Remove from oven and garnish with fresh rosemary and more chopped dates if desired. Serve warm with baguette slices for dipping.
Notes
- Keep a close watch during roasting to avoid burning the nuts and dates.
- Use a block of feta for best texture; feta crumbles will not work the same.
- Optional rosemary adds a lovely herbal note but can be omitted if unavailable.
- Serve immediately for warm, gooey cheese and crunchy toppings experience.
- This recipe is great as an appetizer or alongside a charcuterie board.
