Description

These Creepy Bagel Pizzas are perfect for a Halloween party, combining the convenience of mini bagels with a spooky twist. They are topped with savory pizza sauce, sharp provolone cheese cut into ghost or bat shapes, and decorated with black olives and roasted red peppers to create eerie eyes. Ready in just 20 minutes, these appetizers are both simple and delicious, making them a fun treat for guests of all ages.

Ingredients

Bagels and Sauce

  • 8 mini bagels
  • 1 1/4 cups Nature’s Promise® Organic Pizza Sauce

Toppings

  • 16 thick slices sharp provolone cheese
  • 1/4 cup black olives and/or roasted red peppers, cut into small specks

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s hot and ready for baking the bagels.
  2. Prepare the bagels: Split each mini bagel in half and place them cut-side up on a large baking sheet. Evenly divide the pizza sauce among all the bagel halves, spreading a generous layer on each.
  3. Initial baking: Bake the bagels for 5 minutes or until they turn a lovely golden color.
  4. Create cheesy shapes: Using a small ghost- or bat-shaped cookie cutter, cut shapes from each slice of provolone cheese. Place one shaped piece on each bagel half.
  5. Add the eyes: Finely chop black olives and/or roasted red peppers to create tiny specks. Place these on the cheese shapes to serve as spooky eyes.
  6. Final bake: Return the bagels to the oven and bake for an additional 3 minutes, just until the cheese begins to melt. Remove from oven and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can mix black olives and roasted red peppers for varied eye colors and added flavor.
  • If you don’t have festive cookie cutters, you can cut the cheese into simple shapes or strips for a similar effect.
  • These bagel pizzas are best served immediately to enjoy the melty cheese and fresh toppings.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute mini bagels with gluten-free bagel alternatives.
