Description
This Creamy White Keto Lasagna is a low-carb, family-friendly dish that layers a savory ground turkey or chicken mixture with creamy ricotta and mozzarella cheeses, spinach, and a rich Alfredo sauce. Baked to perfection, it’s a satisfying alternative to traditional lasagna, perfect for those following a ketogenic or low-carb diet.
Ingredients
Meat Mixture
- 1 pound Ground Turkey or Chicken (You can substitute with ground beef or sausage.)
- 1 cup Alfredo Sauce (Use a low-carb option or homemade.)
Cheese Mixture
- 15 ounces Ricotta Cheese (Cottage cheese can be blended for a smoother texture.)
- 1 large Egg (A flax egg can be used for a vegan option.)
- 0.5 teaspoon Salt (Adjust according to taste.)
- 1 teaspoon Dried Minced Garlic (Fresh garlic can be used as a substitute.)
- 1 teaspoon Dried Minced Onion (Fresh onion can be substituted.)
Vegetables and Toppings
- 6 ounces Frozen Spinach (Thaw and drain well.)
- 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella (Choose part-skim or fresh.)
Instructions
- Brown the Meat: In a large frying pan over medium heat, brown the ground turkey or chicken, breaking it into small pieces. Stir in the Alfredo sauce and mix thoroughly to combine all flavors.
- Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together ricotta cheese, egg, salt, dried minced garlic, and dried minced onion until smooth and well blended.
- Prepare the Spinach: Thaw and drain the frozen spinach thoroughly to remove excess water, or lightly sauté fresh spinach until wilted to reduce moisture.
- Layer the Lasagna: In a greased casserole dish, start layering half of the meat mixture as the base. Next, spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture evenly over the meat. Add half of the spinach on top, then sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella. Repeat the layering process once more for a second layer of each component.
- Bake the Lasagna: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cover the casserole dish with foil to keep moisture in, then bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
- Rest Before Serving: Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes. This allows the layers to set and makes serving easier.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef or sausage for the turkey or chicken depending on preference.
- Using low-carb Alfredo sauce or homemade sauce helps keep this dish keto-friendly.
- For a vegan alternative, replace the egg with a flax egg and use dairy-free cheeses.
- Ensure spinach is well drained to prevent watery lasagna.
- Letting the lasagna rest post-baking improves texture and flavor melding.
