This creamy shrimp crab lasagna is a decadent seafood twist on the classic Italian dish, featuring layers of tender lasagna noodles, a rich ricotta and mozzarella cheese blend, succulent sautéed shrimp and crab, and a smooth Alfredo sauce. Perfectly baked until golden and bubbly, this lasagna promises to wow your dinner guests with its luscious texture and flavors.

Ingredients

Seafood Mix

  • 1 lb Shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 cup Crab Meat (imitation crab can be used as substitute)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (fresh minced)
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil (butter can be used as substitute)
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper (freshly ground)
  • 1 tsp Chili Flakes (optional for heat)
  • Salt to taste

Cheese Mixture

  • 15 oz Ricotta Cheese (cottage cheese can be substituted)
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese (low-fat options can be used)
  • 8 oz Mozzarella Cheese (for layering and topping, low-fat options can be used)
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese (half for mixture, half for topping)
  • 2 tbsp Parsley (fresh, chopped)
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream (half-and-half as a lighter alternative)

Other Ingredients

  • 12 oz Lasagna Noodles (no-boil preferred for quick prep)
  • 2 cups Alfredo Sauce (homemade version recommended)
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs (crushed crackers can also work)

Instructions

  1. Preparation: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Boil the lasagna noodles according to the package directions if using regular noodles, then drain and cool to prevent sticking.
  2. Sauté Seafood: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant and golden, about 1 minute. Add the shrimp and cook until they turn pink, approximately 3-4 minutes. Stir in the crab meat, black pepper, chili flakes (if using), and salt, cooking for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Make Cheese Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half of the parmesan cheese, one cup of mozzarella cheese, chopped parsley, and heavy cream. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.
  4. Layer the Lasagna: Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with a thin layer of Alfredo sauce. Begin layering by placing a layer of noodles, spread some cheese mixture over the noodles, add a portion of the seafood mixture, and then top with Alfredo sauce. Repeat this layering process until you have three layers, finishing with a top layer of noodles and Alfredo sauce.
  5. Add Topping: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, and breadcrumbs evenly over the top layer. Cover the pan loosely with aluminum foil.
  6. Bake: Place the lasagna in the preheated oven and bake covered for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  7. Rest and Serve: Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes after removing from the oven to set. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.

Notes

  • Using no-boil lasagna noodles can significantly reduce preparation time.
  • Imitation crab is a budget-friendly alternative to real crab with a similar texture.
  • Adjust chili flakes to your preferred level of spice.
  • Leftover lasagna can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated.
  • For a lighter dish, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream, and low-fat cheeses.
  • Homemade Alfredo sauce enhances flavor but store-bought works well for convenience.
