Description

This delicious and refreshing Creamy Copycat Starbucks Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso recipe lets you enjoy the rich flavors of espresso combined with sweet brown sugar syrup and creamy oat milk, all shaken to perfection for a frothy, iced coffee treat that’s easy to make at home in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Brown Sugar Syrup

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water

Espresso

  • 2 shots (about 2 ounces / 60 ml) freshly pulled espresso (or strong brewed coffee/cold brew concentrate)

Main Drink

  • 1 cup (240 ml) oat milk, preferably barista-style
  • Ice cubes, enough to fill shaker or glass
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the Brown Sugar Syrup: Combine 2 tablespoons brown sugar with 2 tablespoons water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium, stirring continuously until the sugar dissolves completely and the syrup thickens slightly, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature.
  2. Pull the Espresso Shots: Brew 2 shots (2 oz / 60 ml) of espresso using your preferred method. If you don’t have an espresso machine, use 1/4 cup of strong brewed coffee or cold brew concentrate as a substitute.
  3. Combine and Shake: In a cocktail shaker or a jar with a secure lid, add the hot espresso, 2 tablespoons of the cooled brown sugar syrup, and a handful of ice cubes. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds to chill the mixture and create a frothy texture.
  4. Pour Over Oat Milk: Fill a glass with ice cubes, then pour 1 cup (240 ml) of chilled oat milk over the ice. Slowly strain or pour the shaken espresso mixture over the oat milk to achieve a beautiful layered effect.
  5. Optional Cinnamon: Sprinkle a small pinch of ground cinnamon on top of the drink for an added hint of spice and aromatic touch.
  6. Serve Immediately: Stir gently before sipping to combine the layers and enjoy your creamy, refreshing iced brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso.

Notes

  • The brown sugar syrup can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • If you prefer a less sweet drink, adjust the brown sugar syrup quantity to taste.
  • Barista-style oat milk froths better and adds creaminess, but any oat milk variety will work.
  • Use freshly brewed espresso for the best flavor; however, cold brew concentrate can be used for a smoother taste.
  • Shake the espresso and syrup vigorously to produce the characteristic frothy texture of the Starbucks version.
