Description

Cookies and Cream Puppy Chow is a delightful, no-bake snack mix combining crispy Rice Chex cereal coated in a smooth peanut butter, white chocolate, and semi-sweet chocolate blend, then dusted in a sweet Oreo powder. Finished with chunks of Oreos and extra white chocolate chips, this treat offers a perfect balance of crunchy texture and creamy sweetness, ideal for parties, snack time, or gift-giving.

Ingredients

Cereal Base

  • 12 cups Rice Chex (or Crispix) cereal

Sugar & Oreo Dust

  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 16 Oreos (divided from total 32)

Chocolate & Peanut Butter Mixture

  • 2 cups white chocolate chips (divided from total 3 cups)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter

Additional Mix-ins

  • 16 Oreos (remaining from divided total 32, coarsely chopped)
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips (remaining from divided total 3 cups)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cereal: Add the Rice Chex cereal to a large bowl with a lid and set aside to prepare for coating.
  2. Create Oreo Powder: Place 16 Oreos and the powdered sugar into a food processor and pulse until you achieve a fine, powdery mixture. Set this aside for later use.
  3. Melt Chocolate and Peanut Butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 2 cups of white chocolate chips, 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips, and 1 cup of creamy peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each, until fully melted and smooth.
  4. Coat Cereal with Chocolate Mixture: Pour the melted chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the cereal. Gently stir to ensure every piece, including those at the bottom, is evenly coated.
  5. Dust with Oreo Powder: Sprinkle the powdered sugar and Oreo powder mixture over the coated cereal. Secure the lid on the bowl and shake vigorously to cover the cereal completely in the sweet powder.
  6. Cool the Mixture: Remove the lid and allow the puppy chow to cool completely, ensuring the coating sets well.
  7. Add Final Mix-ins: Coarsely chop the remaining 16 Oreos and scatter them along with the remaining 1 cup of white chocolate chips throughout the cooled puppy chow. Stir gently to distribute evenly.
  8. Store Properly: Transfer the Cookies and Cream Puppy Chow to an airtight container or resealable bag. Store at room temperature, refrigerate, or freeze according to your preference for freshness.

Notes

  • Use a large bowl with a secure lid to make shaking and coating easier.
  • Microwave times may vary; stir frequently to prevent burning the chocolate.
  • Ensure the puppy chow cools completely before adding the chopped Oreos and white chocolate chips to prevent melting.
  • Store puppy chow in a cool, dry place for up to two weeks or freeze for longer storage.
  • For a variation, try using different flavored Oreos or substituting peanut butter with almond butter for a different twist.
