Description

Chicken Sausage Skillet is a quick and flavorful one-pan dinner featuring juicy chicken sausages cooked to perfection alongside sautéed colorful bell peppers and onions. This easy-to-make dish offers a perfect balance of savory sausage, sweet caramelized vegetables, and fresh parsley garnish, making it ideal for busy weeknight meals packed with vibrant flavors and wholesome ingredients.

Ingredients

Sausages

  • 4 chicken sausages

Vegetables

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced

Other

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil and cook sausages: Warm 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. When the oil is hot, add 4 chicken sausages and cook them for 5 to 7 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure they brown evenly on all sides and are cooked through.
  2. Prepare vegetables: While the sausages cook, slice 1 red bell pepper, 1 yellow bell pepper, and 1 onion into thin strips to ensure even and quick cooking.
  3. Sauté vegetables: Remove the cooked sausages from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet with the oil and flavorful drippings, add the sliced bell peppers and onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables become tender and slightly caramelized, enhancing their natural sweetness.
  4. Combine sausage and vegetables: Slice the rested sausages into bite-size pieces and return them to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Stir well to mix the flavors together and warm the sausage pieces through.
  5. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the skillet mixture to add a fresh, herbal finish. Serve immediately for a warm, satisfying meal.
