Description

Cheesy Chicken Crescent Bake is a cozy, comforting dish featuring tender cooked chicken wrapped in buttery, flaky crescent rolls, smothered in a creamy, cheesy sauce and baked to golden perfection. This easy, shortcut recipe makes a delicious weeknight dinner or potluck favorite that disappears quickly.

Ingredients

Chicken Filling

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or chopped (rotisserie chicken works great)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided

Dough

  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls (8-count)

Creamy Sauce

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Optional Garnish

  • Chopped parsley for a pop of color

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set it aside to prepare for the casserole assembly.
  2. Fill the Crescents: Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles. Place a spoonful of the cooked chicken and a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese at the wide end of each triangle. Roll up each crescent from the wide end toward the point, enclosing the filling completely. Arrange the rolled crescents seam side down in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until smooth and well combined. Pour this creamy mixture evenly over the crescent rolls in the baking dish, ensuring coverage on all rolls.
  4. Top with Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the sauce-covered crescent rolls to create a cheesy crust during baking.
  5. Bake It Up: Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and the sauce is bubbling around the edges. Remove from oven and let cool for about 5 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve with a simple green salad dressed in vinaigrette to balance the richness of the bake.
  • Roasted vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, or green beans pair well as sides.
  • A bowl of tomato soup makes a comforting complementary dish.
  • Add hot sauce or sriracha on the side for a spicy kick.
  • This casserole is filling enough to stand alone but pairs nicely with lighter sides.
