Description

This Beef and Broccoli Ramen Stir Fry is a quick and flavorful dish combining tender sirloin steak, fresh broccoli, and perfectly cooked ramen noodles all tossed in a savory, slightly sweet homemade sauce. Ready in just 30 minutes, it’s an ideal weeknight meal that balances protein and veggies with a rich Asian-inspired glaze.

Ingredients

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon cracked red pepper flakes

Main

  • 2 (3 ounce) packages ramen noodles, seasoning packets discarded
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, trimmed of fat and sliced into 1 1/2-inch strips (about 1/4-inch thickness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce and cornstarch until smooth and lump-free. Add the beef broth, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cracked red pepper flakes. Whisk until all ingredients are fully incorporated. Set the sauce aside.
  2. Cook the ramen noodles: Bring a medium pot of water to a boil. Cook ramen noodles for 2-3 minutes until just tender. Drain the noodles and rinse them under cold water to stop further cooking. Drizzle with 1 teaspoon sesame oil and toss gently to prevent sticking.
  3. Cook the steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Season the sirloin strips with kosher salt and ground black pepper. Add the steak in a single layer and let it sear without moving for about 3 minutes to develop a nice brown crust. Stir and cook for an additional 2 minutes until fully cooked through. Remove the steak from the skillet and discard any accumulated grease.
  4. Steam the broccoli: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil to the skillet, then add the broccoli florets. Pour in 1/2 cup water and cover the skillet. Let the broccoli steam for about 2 minutes until bright green and fork-tender but not mushy.
  5. Combine steak and noodles: Return the cooked steak strips to the skillet with the steamed broccoli. Add the cooked ramen noodles as well.
  6. Add the sauce and finish cooking: Stir the prepared sauce once more, then pour it into the skillet. Use tongs to gently toss and mix all ingredients together as the sauce heats and thickens, about 1-2 minutes, ensuring everything is evenly coated and warmed through.
  7. Serve: Immediately plate the beef and broccoli ramen stir fry and garnish generously with sesame seeds. Enjoy!

Notes

  • To prevent noodles from sticking, rinse with cold water and toss in sesame oil after cooking.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt levels in the dish.
  • You can swap sirloin steak with flank steak or ribeye for variation.
  • Broccoli should be steamed just until tender to retain crunch and color.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes according to your preferred heat level.
  • For gluten-free option, use gluten-free soy sauce and gluten-free ramen noodles.
