Description

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Orange gel food coloring

Black gel food coloring

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips

Halloween sprinkles (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Divide the dough evenly into two bowls. Add orange food coloring to one and black food coloring to the other. Mix until fully incorporated.
  7. Fold chocolate chips into both colored doughs.
  8. Take small portions of each color and roll together into a dough ball for a marbled effect. Place on the prepared baking sheets.
  9. Top each cookie with extra chocolate chips or Halloween sprinkles if desired.
  10. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set but centers are soft.
  11. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Use gel food coloring for vibrant color without altering dough texture.

Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking reduces spread and deepens color.
