Ingredients
Chicken Filling
- 2 chicken breasts, finely diced
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp minced fresh ginger
Slaw
- 1 bag coleslaw mix
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp sesame oil (for slaw)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (for slaw)
- 1 tbsp honey
For Assembly
- 16 wonton wrappers
- Sweet chili sauce, for serving
- Chopped cilantro, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare muffin tin: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Lightly spray the back of a muffin tin with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Form and bake wonton shells: Drape each wonton wrapper over an inverted muffin cup to shape it into a taco shell. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the shells are crisp and golden brown.
- Cook the chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the finely diced chicken and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is no longer pink in the center.
- Glaze the chicken: Stir in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, and fresh ginger into the cooked chicken. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the chicken is fully glazed and coated with the sauce.
- Prepare the slaw: In a mixing bowl, combine the coleslaw mix, thinly sliced green onions, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Toss everything together until the slaw is evenly coated with the dressing.
- Assemble the tacos: Spoon the glazed chicken into each baked wonton shell. Top with a generous amount of the prepared slaw. Drizzle with sweet chili sauce, then garnish with chopped cilantro and sesame seeds.
- Serve immediately: Enjoy the wonton tacos right away to maintain the perfect crunch of the shells.
Notes
- For extra spice, add sriracha to the chicken mixture or drizzle over the assembled tacos.
- Swap hoisin sauce for teriyaki sauce if you prefer a milder, sweeter flavor.
- To keep the wonton shells crisp, fill them just before serving rather than in advance.
